Names of Ship Missionaries: Gary & Gina Steele

Result: 7 gathered to hear the gospel

Items taken on & given out: 1 bag of clothes, 22 gifts

We checked through mill and dock security and then climbed up the gangway to the deck. The Chinese deck security officer was reluctant to let us on board because this is the first time this ship has been here and they didn’t know who we are. Gina was interceding in prayer while I talked with them. Eventually they let us onto the ship and took us to the crew mess.

We introduced ourselves to the 7 crew members in the mess. We conversed with them for a while and then began asking questions about spiritual matters. There were 6 Filipino and 1 East Indian with us, but the Chinese seafarers stayed at the other end of the room and didn’t join us.

We proceeded to share the gospel with testimonies and scriptures read out by the seafarers. The East Indian fellow was especially interested in what we were saying and he asked us many questions. They were very attentive and we prayed with them to receive Christ as their Lord and Saviour, telling them that this is just the beginning of becoming a Christian and that they must repent of their sins and receive the Holy Spirit.

We prayed for their voyage to China, the machinery on the ship to work without breakdown, and for their families back home. We distributed the gifts and the clothes and they were very appreciative for everything that we gave them.

We thank God for this visit and pray that they will read the materials in their gift bags as they return to Asia.
