The dock security was very friendly to us, which is a nice trend that we’re seeing again after having many who give us difficulty getting into the ports. We went to the crew mess and introduced ourselves as the Lighthouse Ministry. They will often ask if we have a seafare’s centre, but we say “no” and we just to go on the ships. As we visited with them the captain gave a testimony thanking God that while they were off the coast of Russia, where the earthquake happened, and they managed to get out of there just in time before the Tsunami rolled them over.
We all praised God for this protection and I used that to tell them that they need more than just protection from a Tsunami. So with that we started our gospel presentation with John 3:3 where Jesus says to Nicodemus that “you must be born again . . .” We also shared Romans 3:12 “all have turned away,” John 14:6 “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me,” Romans 10:9-10 “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved . . .,” John 1:12 “ But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God,” Revelation 3:20 “Behold! I stand at the door and knock . . .,” and 2 Corinthians 5:17 “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
All three of us participated in sharing with the seafarers and when we were finished we prayed for their safety on the ship and traveling back to Asia, as well as for their families back in the Philippines. We had a very good visit and afterwards the captain asked about the JWs as they have gone on the ship in other ports.
We thanked them for their time and gathering for the word of God. Please pray that this close call with a Tsunami would open them up to receive Jesus.
