Result: 14 gathered to hear the gospel
Items taken on & given out: 4 bags of Cobbs bread, 22 gifts, a fruit basket, 4 ball caps
We arrived at the gate around 5:30 and the security guard was very pleasant with us. We drove to the dock and checked through security there before moving to the crew mess where we introduced ourselves to the available crew.
The captain as in the crew mess and mentioned that they had a lot of work to do after dinner and they hadn’t eaten yet. We asked if we could have 15 minutes to share the gospel and he agreed. So we started with John 3:16 and God’s love for us. We carried on with scriptures and testimonies and Gerard talked to them about praying directly to God. He did it in a way that they wouldn’t bring out their Rosary beads. We ended up going overtime so we finished up quickly with John 14:6, “Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.”
As we were leaving the ship, one of the seafarers said, “I like the way to pray personally to God.” He also went on to say, “we don’t have chances to go to fellowships like this in the Philippines.” We only had 4 ball caps with us so the captain said that he would raffle them off. They were very attentive to the gospel and thanked us for visiting with them.
We thank God for such a good visit and pray that they will read the materials in their gift bags. We also pray that the Holy Spirit will minister to them on their voyage back to Asia.
