Port:Nanaimo B dock

Crew: 20 Filipino

Names of Ship Missionaries: Gerard Guimbatan, Frank Sciarpelletti

Result: 10 heard the gospel

Items taken on & given out: 1 bag of Christmas gifts, 3 bags of Cobbs bread, 10 Tagalog New Testaments

We arrived at the docks at 5:55 and 2 crew members helped us take the bags up the gangway. The Second Officer was on duty and checked us in. In the crew mess there were 10 seafarers having dinner. Many of the crew were shopping in town and tomorrow they start loading logs.

Gerard started with a presentation, mostly in Tagalog, to the crew. I, (Frank)  also gave a presentation entering on John 3:16, focusing on why God sent His Son to be our substitute to atone for our sins and grant us permanent righteousness through Christ and an eternal relationship with God.

Afterwards, they all prayed to accept Christ as Lord and Saviour. The chief engineer, a professing Christian, read some verses from Frank’s presentation in Tagalog in Tagalog from his bible app.

We had a good visit and then I prayed for their new-found faith, for favour with the supervisors, for safe travels, and for their families back in the Philippines. Gerard prayed for the chief officer who woke up with an inflamed foot and we were impressed with his faith.

The chief officer made all the difference with our presentation; he was very interactive with us and, as a result, the crew were very responsive. Afterwards we visited for a while and they offered us ice cream; how could we refuse?

Please pray for this crew, that the Holy Spirit will minister to them as they read the materials in their gift bags. We hope that we were an encouragement to them in their faith. They were very friendly and the chief engineer would start a bible study. They leave on Friday, March 6th.
