Port:Nanaimo B dock
Crew: 19 Chinese
Names of Ship Missionaries: Gary & Gina Steele
Result: 3 came to hear the gospel
Items taken on & given out: 1 bag of gifts, 3 Chinese-English bibles, 4 ball caps, 30 Chinese tracts, some clothing
We boarded the ship at 5:30 and they took us to the crew mess. Most of the crew were busy working on a crane and 7, including the captain wet into town shopping. We Waited in the mess room for a while and then 3 seafarers came in to see us. We visited with them for a while and moved the conversation to spiritual matters.
We did our best to communicate with them in spite of the language difference. Thankfully, we had Chinese-English New Testaments with us so we showed them John 3:16 and had one of them read it out loud. We did our best to explain the gospel to them and they said that they like the bible. After sharing we gave them the gifts and clothing. They were especially happy to receive the Chinese-English New Testaments.
We concluded by praying for them, their voyage, the ship machinery to work and their families back home.
We praise God for the opportunity to share the gospel with these seafarers and pray that they will read the materials in their gift bags, and especially that they will read the bibles.
