Port: Downtown Nanaimo
Crew: 22 Indonesian
Names of Ship Missionaries: Gary & Gina Steele
Result: 3 gathered with us
Items taken on & given out: 22 gifts, 50 tracts, 3 ball caps
I was uncertain about visiting this ship with Indonesian crew since a majority will probably be Islamic and we don’t have many materials to reach them. I do have some Chick tracts called “Allah had no son.” It’s those ships that we feel nervous about visiting that are the ones that we need to visit, so off we went. We arrived about 5:45 and drove to the ship on the dock.
After signing into deck security the second mate took us to the crew mess where we met three crew members, 2 muslim and 1 Christian. The captain came in to greet us briefly but did’t stay long.
We talked with them and gave them some of the tracts saying that Jesus loves them and talked about God’s holy word and the power of the bible. We shared what we could with them, but we wanted to be careful not to push them too far. That being said, the second mate stayed with us the whole time and was very attentive to all that we said.
We pray that the crew will all read the materials in their gift bags, and that the tracts would speak the truth to them about their religion.
