We boarded the ship at 5:15 pm and after checking through deck security the deck trainee took us to the crew mess. The crew there were playing darts and I (Frank) noticed that there was a JW there. I approached him and noticed that he was wearing a Port of Vancouver security pass. I asked him about it and he said that it also gives him access to the Port of Nanaimo. After this he was quick to volunteer to leave the ship, which I was happy about.
The crew finished their dart game and sat down for us to speak to them. Gerard began in Tagalog about John 3:16 and after he talked for a while I had a chance to speak about the Holiness of God. I talked about how He took the initiative to sacrifice His begotten Son to take our place on the cross, and how He was punished for our sins and then He gives us His righteousness as a gift.
Gerard led them in a Salvation prayer, and the all prayed along with him. I prayed for a safe journey to China and their families back home. Some went back to playing cards, and others were ministered to by Gerard. I spoke with the second officer about what the JW was talking to him about. I noted how the JW scooted out of there when confronted with the truth God’s Word.
Please pray that the presence of God would become real to them, that they will read the materials in the gift bags, and that the Holy Spirit would minister to them as they travel to China. We left the ship, thankful for the visit and that the JW left.
