Port:Nanaimo B dock

Crew: 21 Filipino, 1 East Indian

Names of Ship Missionaries: Gerard Guimbatan, Frank Sciarpelletti

Result: 10 heard the gospel

Items taken on & given out: 1 bag of Christmas gifts, 3 bags of Cobbs bread, several Chick tracts, and John 3:16 posters

On Friday, February 6th, we boarded the ship at 7:30 pm and brought 1 bag of Cobbs bagged buns with us. We took it into the officer’s mess and made arrangements for meeting with the crew the next evening.

On Saturday, February 7th, we boarded the ship at 5:45 pm and were escorted to the crew mess where we met the crew that had already eaten. We started ministering to the crew as they came in and I (Frank) started to talk to the Third Officer while Gerard ministered to the rest of the group. I found out that he was a born-again Christian and wanted to conduct a bible study on the ship. I discussed various scriptures with him, encouraging him in his young, but growing faith. I encouraged him to read his bible and prayed for his young wife and infant back home. I also equipped him with posters for a bible study so that he can explain 2 Corinthians 5:21to the rest of the crew. His time away from his family will be 9 months when he sees them again in April.

Meanwhile, Gerard shared John 3:16 with the group and invited them to pray to receive Christ as Lord and Saviour. The group of 10 included the captain and chief engineer. We prayed for their trip back home, safety, and promotions.

We stayed to answer questions and stayed until 8:00 pm. The captain was very appreciative of our visit and that made a big difference to all of us. Please pray that the third officer can lead a bible study on the ship and that the captain and other officers would encourage the rest of the crew to attend the study.
